Rohit Sharma created history, now only Shahid Afridi is ahead

Indian cricket superstar and current captain, Rohit Sharma has equalled West Indies great Chris Gayle in terms of hitting the most sixes in international ODI cricket. Rohit crossed this milestone during the third ODI against Sri Lanka. Chris Gayle had hit 331 sixes in 294 ODI innings, while Rohit has achieved this feat in just 257 innings.

Rohit Sharma close to Shahid Afridi’s :

In this special list, Rohit is now only behind former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who hit a total of 351 sixes in 369 ODI innings. Rohit is considered one of the most aggressive batsmen in the world and his performance has been excellent in all three formats. Indian cricket fans are now hoping that Rohit will overtake Afridi in this list and achieve the top position. However, this will not be easy as the Indian team will not play any ODI match this year.

 

Sri Lanka beat India and won the ODI series :

Recently, a three-match ODI series was played between India and Sri Lanka, which Sri Lanka won 2-0. Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s performance in this series was commendable, but the rest of the batsmen could not make any significant contribution.

Indian team’s struggle in the third ODI:

In the third and final ODI, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 248 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. Avishka Fernando played a brilliant innings of 96 runs for Sri Lanka, while Kusal Mendis contributed 59 runs. In response, the Indian team was reduced to just 138 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 35 runs for the Indian team, but he did not get support from any other batsman. Washington Sundar contributed 30 runs, but it was not enough to give the Indian team victory.
